In a special segment during the WWE Wrestlemania Preshow, Lita stood in the ring and acknowledged the past of the WWF Women’s Title and WWE Divas Title. Lita then announced that the winner of tonight’s Triple Threat Match between current Divas Champion Charlotte vs. Becky Lynch vs. Sasha Banks would become the new WWE Women’s Champion.
The title is designed to be nearly identical in style to the current WWE World Heavyweight Championship, and appears to have replaceable medallions on the sides. While I personally am not a fan of the design, I am thrilled that they are retiring the Divas Title, as the name felt offensive and outdated.
