WWE Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler and The Miz clashed again on last night's SmackDown Live, but it didn't end with their televised segment.
While Miz had turned down Ziggler's offer of an IC Title rematch earlier in the evening, it looks like he changed his mind after the show, and the duo wrestled a dark main event with the gold on the line:-
Ziggler successfully defended his belt in what sounds like a high calibre match, which is hardly surprising given their recent chemistry.
Their earlier interactions saw The Miz and his crew hit the ring to once again run Dolph and his IC Title reign into the ground. This drew Ziggler out from backstage, but just when it looked like he was outnumbered, Heath Slater & Rhyno emerged to prevent a beatdown.
Miz goaded Rhyno into giving the Spirit Squad a Tag Team Title shot after declining Ziggler's challenge, and Ziggler and Miz donned headsets to provide guest commentary for Slater & Rhyno's successful defence. The dark match loss capped a rough night for The Miz, whose new Spirit Squad allegiance has yet to reap significant rewards.
It remains to be seen when Miz and Ziggler next televised match will be, but fans are in for a treat if it meets their recent standards.
