Very few people were aware Shane McMahon was returning to WWE, with Vince and Shane only striking the deal four weeks ago.
The Wrestling Observer reports that Vince was “devastated” he had to give up on the John Cena versus The Undertaker match, but upon realising Cena wasn’t making it back he went “out of the box” and called Shane.
Right now, Shane is only in as a performer until WrestleMania. That seems to suggest he’ll be losing to The Undertaker and then disappearing again. However, if his story catches momentum in the coming weeks, WWE and Shane may work something out for his story to run beyond April.
The 46 year old businessman does still have work commitments outside of wrestling, which could prove decisive in how long this WWE storyline goes. However, it would feel a little dissatisfying if he just loses to The Undertaker and is gone again without any of the Vince / Authority issue resolved. At the same time, it would feel mightily dissatisfying to see The Undertaker losing again at WrestleMania, especially at his home state show. Shane losing is the only reasonable ending to this feud.
