One
of the most intriguing stories heading into NXT Takeover: The End on
Wednesday evening was the direction in which the NXT Championship feud
would take.
NXT Champion Samoa Joe and former title holder Finn Balor held the blow-off to their rivalry, NXT's first ever cage match, with the result likely telling us a lot about the future for both men.
It's been reported by many insiders that the likely outcome following Wednesday would be that the loser of the match would be sent-off to the main roster. Knowing that, we saw Samoa Joe retain his title at Takeover by hitting a Muscle Buster on Balor from t he top of the cage and gaining the pinfall.
Logic tells us that Finn is indeed finally set for his call-up to the main roster at any moment now. While Balor is certainly one of the biggest draws for NXT when it comes to touring, it would also seem that he has done virtually everything he can do in NXT and he's spinning his wheels at this point. He is far from the only big time draw for NXT, and it's probably time to see what he can mean to the main roster's future.
Balor also wrestled at Takeover in black and white demon face paint, not his typical red and black. Wrestling fans on social media were of course noting the correlation between the colors he wore and the colors of The Club (the former Bullet Club).
Does this actually mean anything or is it merely a coincidence? Was Balor just having fun teasing the fans? It's too early to say, but Balor would almost certainly debut as part of a storyline involving his former partners from Japan (Anderson and Gallows) if his main roster call-up comes about soon.
While anything in WWE is subject to change, odds are that Wednesday night's finish spelled out to us that you will be seeing Finn Balor on Monday Night RAW at some point this Summer, probably sooner rather than later.
